If you have been buying expensive designer products to brighten and moisturize your face, I urge you to stop. For those of you who have been battling acne for years, here is your miracle moment: Cassava root does the trick!
The cassava root is not only a delicous carbohydrate rich food which can be used in preparing numerous delicious dishes, it can also be used on the skin. Because the cassava root is the sources of important minerals like zinc, magnesium, copper, iron, and manganese, cassava can be used to brighten, soften and hydrate the skin.
I did some research and found out that cassava is an important raw material in the cosmetic industry for the production of creams, powders and masks simply because the starch can absorb waste products from the skin. The problem is, these industrialized products contain other chemical ingredients that may be harmful to the skin. Not only so, the proportion of cassava in these products are so low that to see any visible effect, requires constant use of these products over long period os time. So why not use nature’s direct response to problems like acne and dry skin?
I wanted to give it a try! To my own face mask right in the comfort of my own kitchen, with products that I know and can trust. I searched the internet for recipes and I found quite a few cassava mask recipes to brighten and hydrate the skin and remove spots and scar. I wanted to remove dead skin and eliminate spots so I opted for the face mask to brighten my face. To make this mask, all you need is fresh cassava root and water.
It is recommended to wash your face with warm water to open your pores so that the mask can penetrate the other layer of the skin, easily get absorbed and improve the texture and condition of your skin. Next apply your face mask wait for your to dry completely, then rinse with cold water to close the pores. I did this thrice a week for two weeks and I was pleasantly surprised at the results.
Here are other recipes for you to try:
1. For bright skin:
Great 1/2 of a cassava root. Wash your face with warm water. Apply mask and let it dry out. Wash with cold water. Repeat procedure 3 times a week for 2 weeks or more depending on how severe the spots are. This will impart a healthy glow to your skin.
2. To hydrates the skin:
For hydrated smooth and soft skin, add 2 tablespoons of honey or olive oil to your grated cassava. Add a few drops of freshly sueezed lemon. Apply 3-4 times a week.
3. To eliminate spots and reduce acne scars:
Cassava water does the trick here. Grate cassava but this time, extract the juice. Make sure your face is free from make-up- Wash with warm water to open the pores. Apply the water gently all over the affected area twice a day. Dry your face and apply oil or butter of your choice. Do it every day until the acne scars disappear.
Nature is miraculous, isn’t it? They say with knowledge comes power. Now that you know how cassava can help you lead a healthier, more beautiful life, there is no reason to shy away from it. But like always, don’t forget to talk to a doctor to avoid complications!
