When I created my YouTube channel, I had only an old Nokia phone, zero editing skills and no idea what💡 software to use. I complained my kitchen was too small to film cooking shows and wanted to wait till I had the perfect kitchen and my dream home to start. You see if there is one thing that holds me back from realizing my dreams is the fact that I am a perfectionist. I love to have everything planned out and executed to perfection. I mean every single detail. My favorite food and lifestyle YouTubers had the perfect kitchen, great homes, and the professional tools and I wished I had those. If only I had a kitchen like theirs, I thought to myself. But then I quickly realized that those American YouTube super cooks with beautiful homes, spacious kitchen and 500,000+ subscribers obviously started somewhere.
I decided to start where I am, using the tools I had in hand. I had to create my own shine with the resources I had. I started filming for my YouTube channel in my living room, yes you read right IN MY LIVING ROOM. I had nails on the wall and hung food frames I got second hand. Whenever I had to film, I’ll move my spice rack from the kitchen to the living room. It was hard work 😓.
Today, with earnings from adverts from my blog and selling my African weight loss e-Books, doing cooking classes monthly in my community, selling my SUPA Spices and sauces and catering, I have been able to buy a professional camera, software and hardware which is taking my passion – cooking & blogging – to another level and the sky cannot limit me. What I am saying is this;
When faced with a difficult situation there are always three choices:
1. Blame the whole universe for what you are going through or what you do not have.
2. Do nothing and continue whining about your current situation.
3. Cry a little bit, learn from the situation, seek solutions, dust yourself, rise above it and turn a bad situation for your good.
My word for you today my friend is SHINE! Create your own sunshine and☀️ brighten your path. Don’t wait for permission to do what you have to do to shine rays of light in your path. Don’t wait for the perfect time, don’t wait till you have enough cash💰. Just go ahead and do what you can, no matter how insignificant it may be to others. The more you whine, the less you shine.
I have learned to cut my coat according to my size while doing what I need to do to fulfill my purpose and I urge you to do the same.
Create your own shine because no one will lend their rays to brighten your path.
