It is amazing how God cares for His own. God provides even before we ask!
The order and sequence of creation is a clear demonstration of our father’s ability to provide our needs. Imagine searching for a valuable item in the dark. That would be a long and tiresome search right? Our father knows. He knows that we need light to find the right path on earth and stay on it. He separated the light from darkness (Genesis 1:4), and the skies from the seas. He made time and seasons, day and night (v.5).
God knew that if He had to create mankind, He will first provide food, shelter and company for them. The word tells us that God created seed-bearing plants and trees of all kinds (v.11). It most have been a beautiful place to behold. A place He filled with plants, with great creatures of the sea and of land, and His presence.
There, he put the man he had formed in the Garden, east of Eden to work it and take care of it. How awesome is that my beloved? To be gifted with land which was miraculously watered by streams that came up from the earth (v.6) and crops grew. Just like that!
Oh how God our God is!
Knowing that the man needed company and a suitable helper, God created a helpmate in His own image. He blessed them, giving them dominion and rulership over ALL things found on the earth (v.28). Man lacked nothing, not food, not shelter, not company. Man had it all in the presence of his maker.
But here’s what blows me away!
Adam went about God’s business but didn’t realize that he needed a helper. Even when Adam named the animals, he did not name any animal Eve.
But God who knows our needs, each one of them and He provides. He knew that Adam needed a suitable helper, so He gave Him a wife, a friend, a partner, a co-worker.
It is interesting to note that while Adam cared for and worked the garden, God was busy brainstorming with Christ and the Holy Spirit about how best to fulfill Adam’s ‘need’. While Adam slept, He prepared the ultimate ‘surprise’. A suitable helper.
Amazing isn’t it?
Adam did not ask, pray or fast for Eve. He wasn’t even aware He needed her. He was neither lovesick nor lonely. But God knew what He will eventually need and He provided.
Here’s the thing about some of us; we worry, rant, and even get angry at God because we ‘lack’ some stuff. That’s not our job my friend. Our job is to totally depend on the all-knowing and ever-providing God.
Be anxious about nothing, do not worry about this or that. God knows and if you ‘sleep’ on it (relax and don’t worry), God is going to surprise you and meet those needs in ways you did not expect.
If Adam’s need was met during an afternoon nap, it’s that easy for God. All it takes is a twinkle of an eye and that problem is solved. Go about God’s business and do not sweat it!
Seek first the Kingdom of God and righteousness and all those other things will be yours too (Matthew 6:33).
And God will supply every one of your needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19).
