Below are the rules to our 30 Days of Real Food challenge. These rules apply if you decide to take the challenge for shorter. The one simple rule of the thumb for this challenge is:
Trade processed, refined and convenience foods for traditional fresh unprocessed foods.
This means everything with refined oils, white flour, sugar, low and skimmed-milk products, margarine, processed cheeses, refined salt and dried pastas have to go.
What you CAN eat:
Foods that are a product of nature rather than industrially manufactured.
Eat your meat – just make sure it’s locally pasture-raised or grass-fed. Eat beef, pork and chicken preferably in moderation
Fruits & Vegetables
Enjoy plenty of vegetables for all their nuances of flavor and subtle buy preferably from your local market. Dairy products: Fresh unpasteurized milk, eggs, home-made yoghurt and cheese.
Wheat & Grains
These should be 100% whole e.g. whole wheat bread, pasta, rice. We prefer you make your own breads. Eat your grain – just make sure it’s soured, sprouted or soaked.
Drink preferably water. Consume milk, natural home-made juices, naturally sweetened tea and coffee and wine in moderation.
Snack on unsalted, or naturally sweetened nuts, seeds, fruits and vegetables.
Natural sweeteners like stevia, honey, marply syrup and fruit juice can be consumed in moderation.
Fats & Oils
Get good unsaturated fats from fish, nuts and avocados. Use extra-virgin oils like Olive, Avocado, Almond, Palm oil etc sparingly.
