She failed, the third time! And this time, there was no chance for a resit. It was over, all three opportunities wasted. Only now did she realise the effect of clubbing, week after week with the same people who to her dismay passed the finale exams. The numerous sugar daddies, the slutty lifestyle, the disrespect towards those who cared for her. She wanted to ‘play life’ and now this! How could this happen? Is this even real? She pondered.
Where will I start? Who will I turn to? That’s it! My visa cannot be prolonged. How do I go back home without the degree my parents toiled so much for me to have? What will people say? Chai God! God why? Why me? Now she remembered God. The God she knew back in her high school days. The God she sang about in the choir. The God who comforted her when she felt not loved. She remembered Him and for a minute, she considered going back to that place of complete surrender, dependence and reverence.
And she did. Little did she know that the spirit of God had been hovering all over her ‘formless’ ’empty’ and ‘dark’ life (Genesis 1:2), waiting for a chance to birth something new. He had been there all along, waiting, hoping and longing for her to come back home where she belong, where she would succeed, and excel, in His presence.
But this new beginning wasn’t going to be a bed of roses. Because she soon realised that a fresh start with God required much. God had some separation to do. As she read His word she realised, that God had to separate darkness from the light. It was a painful process letting go of those things that once were a part of her (life). How will she deal with being ‘alone’, without a boyfriend? How will she deal with a sexual fantasies? What did God mean by ‘no pornographic movies’, ‘no self gratification of the flesh?’, ‘control your anger and frustrations?’. But God knew His light was better than darkness and He knew it was going to be VERY good for her.
She began the journey, walking in Christ’s footsteps as best she could and began to taste of the goodness and mercy of God. Restoration and healing came, new-found joy filled her heart and the peace that surpassess understanding consumed her being. It was a overwelmingly beautiful feeling. A feeling no man can give.
He promised there’s much more to come were that came from and she’s promised to walk until His plan for her life is fulfilled. God started afresh. She dwelled no more on the past, but focused on the future. Because God is a God of new beginnings. He forgave the past and promised a better future for her. He can do same for you.
Return to Him.
